Breaking the Chain of Infection

Sgt. Poopers® Chartered Conservationist badgeSgt. Poopers provides dog waste disinfection daily, weekly, or on demand in the Dallas area. Our prices start at just $4.95 a week, a tiny price to pay for a sanitary backyard!

We use an EPA-approved, CDC-listed, and NSF-certified "no-rinse required" food-grade hospital disinfectant to disinfect each area where we remove solid waste from the ground.

It is the same disinfectant that was used to stop one of the world’s most deadly viruses—Ebola—when it hit Dallas in 2014. It is certified to kill 99.999% of harmful viral and bacteriological pathogens — including Coronavirus, and yet it is completely non toxic to people, pets, and plants.

Scope of our Dog Waste Problem

Sgt. Poopers® Conservation ArrowheadThere are 1.2 million registered dogs in DFW that deposit 900,000 pounds of solid waste on the ground per day. That's like a city the size of Dallas without a single toilet to dispose of the waste.

According to the EPA, dog waste contains 20 million harmful germs, viruses, pathogens, microbes, and parasites per gram — a gram being roughly the size of a kernel of corn. Fecal microbes can survive for weeks, months, and even years on the ground. Up to 99% of these bacteria transfer easily by shoes or paws to clean floors inside homes. Once in the home, they are rapidly spread everywhere.

Many parents do not know the diseases in dog waste are easily transmitted to children and adults.

Picking up the waste Isn't enough

Sgt. Poopers® Conservation Control Corps sealIn 2008 when we started Sgt. Poopers, there was no effective no-toxic way to deal with the germs that remained on the ground after we removed the waste. There was chlorine bleach, but bleach produces trihalomethanes (THM) and haloacetic acids (HAAS) which have been linked to cancer. Industry insiders admitted to us that pet waste disinfection was a fraud because the chemistry they used was not effective. So, for nine years we refused to offer any such service. But times have changed thanks to science: a new-gen, effective, non-toxic disinfectant arrived that works in a whole new way.

I learned about this technology in 2015, when I was called on to assist with the marketing of a Ft Worth company that was using this new disinfectant to break the chain of infection even in worst case scenarios—the breakout of Ebola in Dallas, and super bugs like MRSA, HAI, and HPAI visuses.

This chemistry is death on germs yet non-toxic, non-flammable, non-hazardous, and causes no respiratory nor skin irritation in animals or humans. It is certified by the NSF as “no rinse required” on food surfaces. Respirators and rubber gloves are not required for application.

How to Disinfect Dog Waste

Sgt. Poopers® Disinfection and Deodorizing buttonWe focus on the "hot spots" where dog waste touched the ground. After we pick it up, we thoroughly rinse that spot to handle the remaining pathogens. Unlike older disinfectants, our non-toxic agent is harmless to humans, pets, birds, and insects. It reacts with the amino acids forming the cell walls of bacteria and viruses causing them to rupture and die within 60 seconds. We can also disinfect the entire backyard including pathways, lawn furniture, and more.

You can wash your hands with this disinfectant and we do. We also use it to clean our tools after visiting each yard. Our Standard Pet Waste Removal Service includes disinfecting each area where dog waste touched the ground, and our Premium service includes disinfecting the whole yard.

Disinfectants are rated by the EPA as to their effectiveness. The highest classification is "hospital disinfectant" which ours is. Along with that, a few are rated by the NSF as "no rinse required" which means they are fit to be used on food preparation surfaces and do not require rinsing!

Our policy at Sgt. Poopers is NOTHING BUT THE BEST FOR OUR CLIENTS. We use ONLY NON-TOXIC SUPPLIES, and our standard of quality is PERFECTION.
