Introduction
Sgt. Poopers has provided pet waste removal and cleaning protocols at Dallas-area parks since 2008. Locations include private theme parks like Hawaiian Falls Water Park, and public parks like Fair Park, White Rock Lake, Flag Pole Hill, Lee Park (Turtle Creek Park), Thanksgiving Square, Tietze Park and more. We can mobilize a team to handle pet waste removal at any size event in Greater Dallas.
We have worked with city and private managers responsible for keeping Dallas area parks clean during events such as the annual Strut Your Mutt hosted by the SPCA. And we've provided our services year after year during events such as Tuba Christmas at Thanksgiving Square Park. If you are responsible for a park in the greater Dallas area, or have an upcoming event and need help, call the conservation professionals at Sgt. Poopers.
With more than a decade in the conservation business, we've handled thousands of jobs a year for all kinds of clients throughout greater Dallas, Texas. Best off all, we are not a national chain with a thousand miles (or more) separating them from Texas reality. Locally owned and operated, when you call Sgt. Poopers, you get me, the owner, answering the phone and making decisions in real time, not some detached answering service in Arizona or California deflecting questions and pushing instead to have someone "call you back." You'll have my personal cell number so you can call, text or email the boss anytime you like. Need help today? You got it. You can't get that kind of service from a national chain.

Park Dog Waste Disinfection
Sgt. Poopers provides parks with dog waste disinfection to reset the pathogen count to near zero in contaminated areas. We use a cutting-edge, food-grade, EPA-approved and NSF-certified hospital disinfectant to break the chain of infection at the molecular level. Non-toxic to humans, pets, and plants, it reacts with molecules in the amino-acid proteins that form the membrane of bacteria and viruses. This reaction causes 99.999% of harmful microbes to rupture (oxidize) and die in seconds including Covid-19 and superbugs.
When Ebola struck Dallas in 2014, this is what hazmat workers used to successfully decontaminate infected spaces. It is an EPA-registered antimicrobial that meets CDC criteria for use against lethal pathogens, yet this same disinfectant is so safe you can wash your hands with it. It is hypoallergenic, non-toxic, non-flammable, non-hazardous, non-reactive, non-corrosive, non-fuming, and non-staining. It is NSF certified as "No Rinse Required" on food preparation surfaces. Respirators or rubber gloves are not required for application. It is simply one of the best, safest and most effective disinfectants there is. We're proud of it especially because it works.
Park Dog Waste Deodorizing
We can neutralize the smell of solid dog waste and dog urine at your park. We use a special sprayer and powerful hospital-grade deodorizer to treat each area where dogs urinate or deposit waste.
Foul lingering odors are caused by bacteria. These bacteria can live for weeks and even months on the ground — their natural habitat. What's more, these bacteria easily hitch a ride on shoes right into clean floors indoors.
Dog urine can create especially nasty odors at park properties. We treat all the usual places where dogs like to urinate including chair and bench legs, the bases of trees, light poles, gates, fence posts, water hydrants, trash cans, dog waste stations, and bushes. Our deodorizer will effectively kill the odor-causing bacteria. We also treat each place that smells like dog urine — easy to smell when you are right over it — on walkways, beds, sidewalks, artificial turf, grass, crushed granite, and dirt beds.
Park Dog Waste Facts
The toxicity of biological waste and the environmental threat such poses is no joke since the concentration of dog populations per square mile has never been so great. DFW's 1.2 million registered dogs deposits 900,000 pounds of solid waste on the ground per day. The impact of fecal waste on our shared land and storm-water resources is an unforeseen health hazard that many communities are only now coming to grips with.
In our experience, a little education always generates enthusiasm for Sgt. Poopers' conservation services. It's easy to get the community behind our movement for a cleaner world.
Dog waste is just as unsanitary as human waste. A common misconception is that dog waste is fertilizer. Fertilizer comes only from grazing animals like cows that don’t eat meat. Their manure is healthy for grass because it is grass. Dogs are meat eaters. One gram of dog poop contains more than 20 million microbes—“parasites, bacteria, germs, pathogens and viruses harmful to humans” (per EPA). You can become ill eating fruits or vegetables “fertilized” by dog poop, which explains why it has zero commercial value as a fertilizer while cow manure sells for as much as 79¢ a pound.
Fecal organisms from dog waste survive for months and longer on the ground. Toxocaris (roundworm) eggs remain viable for up to 3 years. A recent study found that walking through poop-contaminated yards put some 421,000 harmful bacteria on shoes. Worse, up to 99% of those bacteria transferred easily to tiles and carpet inside homes. (Ref: Department of Soil, Water & Environmental Science at the University of Arizona, April 2008)
Rain and sprinkler systems wash germs directly into lakes and rivers—the source of drinking water. That’s why with 1.2 million dogs in DFW, dog waste is a leading cause of groundwater pollution—the daily equivalent of an entire city’s sewage—untreated and unchecked—unless someone picks it up! (North Texas dogs produce 450 tons of solid waste per day much of which is washed into our waterways including White Rock Lake, Turtle Creek and the Trinity River.)
Diseases that can be spread from dog poop to humans just by walking through contaminated grass include dysentery, cholera, hepatitis, typhoid, tuberculosis, ear infections, blindness, roundworm, tapeworm, hookworm, Giardiasis, Salmonellosis, Toxocarosis, Campylobacteriosis, Gastroenteritis, Cryptosporidiosis & Cysticerosis. Dog poop also breeds flies that, in turn, spread other diseases.
Park Services Prices
Our pricing for parks is based on the size of the property, services, volume of waste needing to be removed, plus the frequency of our visits. The more frequently we clean, the less we charge for each visit. We can visit daily, weekly or monthly. Estimates are free and often we are able to provide a quote the same day we are called.
