Sgt. Poopers provides disinfection services for decks, patios and porches throughout Dallas, Tx with prices starting at just $11.95 per week. We treat the entire surface area including outdoor furniture to reset the pathogen count to near zero wiping out 99.999% of harmful bacteria, viruses, even toxic black mold. In this way, we break the chain of infection by which disease is passed from birds, rodents and "filth insects" (like flies) to humans.
We use a very special EPA-approved, CDC-listed, and NSF-certified "no-rinse required" food-grade hospital disinfectant to disinfect these surfaces or any contaminated surfaces. It is the same disinfectant that was used to stop one of the world’s most deadly viruses—Ebola—when it hit Dallas in 2014. It is certified to kill 99.999% of harmful viral and bacteriological pathogens — including Coronavirus, and yet it is completely non toxic to people, pets, and plants.
Transmission of Disease
Many parents don't realize how easily e.coli and other harmful germs spread across surfaces and are picked up by children. Diseases are transmitted via "touch points" including the surfaces we walk upon like patios and decks as well as outdoor furniture.
A study released in April 2008 by Dr. Charles Gerba Ph.D., microbiologist and professor at the University of Arizona Departments of Soil, Water and Environmental Science (College of Agriculture), and Epidemiology and Biostatistics (College of Public Health) investigated the role of shoes in the movement of bacteria from contaminated areas to other surfaces. They found that when we walk upon a surface contaminated by fecal matter from dogs, bacteria adhere readily to shoes and hitch a ride into our homes. Up to 99% of the bacteria on shoes were easily transferred onto clean tile and carpets of kitchens, bedrooms and living areas. If it's on the floor, it's on your feet and in your bed, and on the hands and feet of any children in your home.
One gram of dog waste contains more than 20 million germs, bacteria, viruses, pathogens and parasites. And these disease agents remain alive and viable on the ground for years. Round worm eggs can remain viable for up to 3 years and maybe more.
In the University of Arizona study scientists gave volunteers a pair of sterile new shoes and asked them to wear them for 2 weeks. At the end of that time, the shoes were taken to the lab for analysis. They found an average of 421,000 live bacteria on shoe soles. 27% was deadly E. Coli bacteria indicating frequent contact with fecal matter. Also detected was Klebsiella pneumonia, which can cause pneumonia and wound and bloodstream infections and Serratia ficaria, which can lead to infection of the respiratory tract. And as to the source, just walking down the sidewalk did the trick.

Scope of Deck and Patio Germs
Germs are not just spread passively. A good deal of pathogens are spread by insects to outdoor surfaces. Flies and cockroaches are "filth insects" that deliberately spread bacteria to create illness which they profit by. If you get sick or die, there is MUCH more for flies and cockroaches to consume for generations to come.
Wild animals are also significant spreaders of pathogens including birds, squirrels, rats, mice, raccoons and more.
For example, pigeons spread many disease vectors including,
- Histoplasmosis — a fungal disease that affects both humans and animals and is transmitted by airborne spores from soil contaminated by pigeons
- Cryptococcus — another fungal disease found in droppings in old roosts or nests
- Candidiasis — a yeast infection that affects the skin, mouth, respiratory system, intestines and the urogenital tract
- St. Louis Encephalitis — an inflammatory disease of the nervous system spread by mosquitoes which have fed on infected house pigeons
- Salmonellosis — known widely as "food poisoning," this disease is often traced to bacteria found in bird droppings and the dust from droppings
- E. coli — pigeons deliver this through their droppings
Pigeons are also known to play a significant role transmitting,
- Bed bugs
- Chicken mites (which carry encephalitis
- Yellow mealworms
- West Nile Virus
Cats and dogs also spread bacteria. According to the EPA, dog waste contains 20 million harmful germs, viruses, pathogens, microbes, and parasites per gram — a gram being roughly the size of a kernel of corn. Fecal microbes can survive for weeks, months, and even years on the ground. Up to 99% of these bacteria transfer easily by shoes or paws to clean floors inside homes. Once in the home, they are rapidly spread everywhere.
Biofilm Makes Bacteria 1,000 Times More Resistant
Biofilm makes bacteria 1,000 times more resistant to many antimicrobial disinfectants. Biofilm is a structured community of harmful bacteria enclosed in a microscopic matrix of slimy, glue-like, protective substances anchored to a surface, including on furniture and surfaces of decks, patios, porches. Biofilm protects germs from cleaners, the elements, even traditional disinfectants. Biofilm renders bacteria immune to traditional disinfectants which are unable to penetrate their defensive shelter. According to the National Institutes of Health, biofilm causes as much as 65% of all microbial infections. The toxins they secrete cause all manner of inflammation and chronic disease. Lung disease, heart disease, bone disease. Diseases of the joins, kidneys, intestines. The list is long!
For the first time, scientists are beginning to understand the actual nature of bacteria and why cleaning alone does not kill or remove bacteria. Sgt. Poopers uses a new-generation disinfectant that penetrates biofim and oxidizes bacteria (meaning it chemically combines with molecules in the cellular walls of bacteria causing the cell to rupture and die). Our EPA-approved, CDC-listed, NSF-certified, no-rinse food-grade hospital disinfectant penetrates biofilm to kill 99.999% of germs in less than 60 seconds. Non toxic to humans, pets, it's the very agent to stop the Ebola virus when it struck Dallas in 2014.

How to Disinfect a Porch, Patio or Deck
Unlike traditional disinfectants which kill germs because they are themselves a form of poison, our non-toxic agent is harmless to humans, pets, birds, and insects. It reacts with the amino acids forming the cell walls of bacteria and viruses causing them to rupture and die within 60 seconds. We can also disinfect the entire backyard including pathways, lawn furniture, and more.
You can disinfect your hands with this disinfectant and we do. We also use it to sterilize our tools after visiting each yard.
Disinfectants are rated by the EPA as to their effectiveness. The highest classification is "hospital disinfectant" which ours is. Along with that, a few are rated by the NSF as "no rinse required" which means they are fit to be used on food preparation surfaces and do not require rinsing!
Our policy at Sgt. Poopers is NOTHING BUT THE BEST FOR OUR CLIENTS. We use ONLY NON-TOXIC SUPPLIES, and our standard of quality is PERFECTION.
